Kobelco Targets Rental Companies with New Mini’s

Kobelco has launched additional models to the mini excavator range with great features that are ideal for the trades and hire market.

Kobelco’s General Manager – Sales & Service, Doug McQuinn, says the four new Kobelco models in its mini excavator range have been engineered specifically for ease of operation and servicing.

“Rental companies keep customers happy by giving them equipment that is easy to operate, incredibly safe and of course, productive and efficient. This is vital because dry-hire customers aren’t necessarily using excavators every day and they’re often operating in very tight spaces. The same applies to tradespeople, even owner operators, because they’ve got other jobs to do onsite. Operating an excavator is only a part of what they do, so they may not be highly experienced.

“What they all need is equipment that’s quick and easy to learn, and nimble to operate,” Doug says.

The SK008 allows each track to move independently for incredible stability on uneven terrain, which makes it simpler and safer even for less experienced operators.  The variable undercarriage is designed in such a way that the build-up of dirt will be ejected automatically when the undercarriage is retracted.

Doug says the new compact models are suited to applications from plumbing and electrics to landscaping.

“The models are very versatile and are solid performers. They’re easy to use but they work hard.”

About the new models:

The 1.7 tonne SK17SR: This model has hydraulic retractable side frames for nimble tracking. The frames also have a self-cleaning mechanism that forcibly discharges mud to prevent malfunction in the variable undercarriage.

The 2 tonne SK20R: This model has guards on all cylinders and boom lights that are positioned on the underside of the boom to prevent damage caused by contact.

The 1 tonne SK008: A variable undercarriage allows the left and right tracks to raise and lower independently to correct the machine’s angle on slopes. The crawler width can be reduced to only 680mm, so the unit will fit through a standard doorway and the model features folding ROPS canopy.

– The 2.6 tonne SK25SR available in April has superior lifting capacity, max digging force and hydraulic flow for attachments compared to its main competitors, but is light enough to be transported on a trailer even with additional attachments. A reclining operator’s seat provides a comfortable working environment for the operator.

These new models will be available from March 2015 from the Kobelco dealer network.
