BKW Electrical & Earthworks

BKW Electrical & Earthworks is a family-owned and run company that has been a part of the earthmoving community since 2013.

Blake Walsh, owner, operator and a fully licensed electrician, has been working in the industry since 2007, with his family also bringing over 40 years’ experience to the table. It all adds up to the company quickly gaining a reputation for high quality services and workmanship.

BKW employs a small team, all with solid and long-standing experience who provide a wide range of civil services, from residential and commercial excavation, to small and large-scale electrical works and more, catering to any job in the Sydney area, down to the Southern Highlands  and west to the Blue Mountains.

To be able to take on new opportunities and offer such a wide range of services, Blake has been expanding his fleet, purchasing several new Kobelco excavators over the last couple months. When BCM For Tradies recently met with Blake on site of a new residential development in Cobbitty, he had just taken delivery of two new Kobelco SK45SRX-6s, with the short radius design making easy work of the tight access site.

Blake originally purchased the 4.5 tonne excavators for dry hire, but once he tested the latest addition to his fleet, it was hard to get him out. “I’ve been operating one myself on-site and it has been great.  The SK45SRX has a roomy cab, providing plenty of room for any size operator.

The machine has also been delivering a good tractive force, great reach, and I’m happy with the performance of the blade,” says Blake.

Blake came across the Kobelco brand by chance, after visiting the Sydney Trucks & Machinery dealership—BKW’s local Kobelco Dealer. “We had a bad experience with our previous equipment provider and were looking to make a switch.

We stumbled across the brand and I’m happy we did. We have purchased several Kobelco excavators over the past few months, from an SK17SR, up to a SK135SR-7.”

“The new Series-7 excavator has been next-level. You can feel the difference in power when digging compared to previous generations. We have been so impressed with the brand that we are looking at adding an SK75SR-7 with a tilt hitch to our fleet, as they make easy work of retaining walls,” adds Blake.

“We have found Kobelco excavators to be comfortable, fuel efficient and have that well-made Japanese quality. Their parts and after-sales service support has also been great. You know that at some point something can go wrong, but at the end of the day you know they are reliable and have the back-up and warranty to give you peace of mind. We are also pleased to announce that we have just started up BKW Plant Hire to cater to the dry hire side of the business and look forward to continuing our relationship with Kobelco by adding more of their machines to our fleet.”
